Energy Law and Regulation in the European Union

L’avv. Giuseppe Bovenzi e dell’avv. Valerio Vinci, la Sezione Italiana dell’autorevole pubblicazione “Energy Law and Regulation in the European Union”, edita da Sweet & Maxwell.

Maria Cristina Breida, partner of R&P Legal, has edited, with the contribution of the associates Giuseppe Bovenzi and Valerio Vinci, the Italian Section of “Energy Law and Regulation in the European Union”, published by Sweet & Maxwell. The work, a leading international publication in the Energy sector, is a point of reference for operators in the energy field interested in investing in the European and Italian markets. It provides a comprehensive guide to the applicable legislation on exploration, supply and transportation of gas and petroleum products, and examines the European and national markets with regard to the production, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity.

Among the numerous topics analyzed, both in the Oil & Gas and Electricity sectors, there are the role of the State in the regulation and authorization of the activities of the operators in the respective supply chains, the development of the Italian gas and electricity exchange markets, the role of the market operator (GME) and the measures for developing competition promoted by the Italian Antitrust Authority and Regulatory Authority for Energy (ARERA).

The impact of the Third Energy Package and the path leading to an increasingly liberalized energy market open to competition are revisited as well.

Peculiar attention is also dedicated to coal, nuclear energy and to the evolution of support mechanisms for cogeneration and renewable sources of electricity production.
